Give a Creative Christmas

For the last three years we have hosted a Christmas Fund Raising event for the Wellington Homeless Women’s Trust.
The Vision of the Trust is to enable homeless women to find a place to call home.
The Mission is to provide up to 3 months transition accommodation and services assisting homeless women to re-establish themselves.
The Kaupapa – the Trust works in collaboration with other social services assisting homeless women regain their health, become resilient, be independent with their choices, and support them into long-term and sustainable housing. To see more go to their website here.

Each year we make up little goodie bags for a donation to make up into decorations on the night or to take home for presents.

This year in honour of the Koru Heart Raffle quilt that many of our customers contributed blocks, the theme for the decorations was the Koru Heart.
The crochet heart decorations grew into a wreath when made in the Chunky New Zealand Felted wool (see the wool here)- very satisfying. For a free PDF see here
When crocheted in a fine yarn and joined together make a lovely light necklace.
The Cross stitch Hearts and Dolly Peg fairies were also very popular.

We raised nearly $1500 for the trust on the night.
